A drag-and-drop Wider Web space maker…

A federated audio and podcasts sharing platform…

I don’t know. Though, since they’re already supporting multiple kinds of tracked controllers it might not be so much work to make the hand data look like tracked controllers. We designed the XRInput system to be pretty forgiving and accepting of varied types of tracked input.

I’d love to read (or perform) a similar study for the apps that are really nailing the semantics of XR.

If you’ve ever wondered how frameworks like Observable Plot, ggplot2, or Vega-Lite work, you’ve come to the right place! I was wondering the same thing, so I looked at a bunch of implementations, read a bunch of papers, and this is what I came up with. Below, you’ll find a walkthrough of the Grammar…

Yes, as far as I can’t tell they’re offering a network of message passing services and a browser-side virtual machine that uses the network to stay in sync with other VMs. So, to make an app you’d need your own site. That said, it could be (I think) a static site which is a biggish deal for folks who want multi-user dynamic environments. I wrote a replication service and JS lib for Transmutable Studio (RIP) and it was non-trivial.

That’s pretty neat! It could be fun to make a Moatboat-style experience where searches of the library based on speech-recognized words fall out of the sky.

Perhaps one day there will be a three-file, drop-in, hostable-anywhere Wider Web site that provides a great social space that supports flat and immersive displays, portable digital bodies, etc.

It’ll be interesting to see how this kind of cross-platform / cross-cultural pushing of microposts will be accepted. I feel like LinkedIn and Mastodon (for example) are radically different but I’m sure folks will cross-post the same text to them.

Apparently it’s possible to use Yew to create Rust GUIs. https://yew.rs/

It’s good to see that team continue to make progress. Do you have a sense of how many of their core contributors are not Microsoft employees?

I’m a bit doubtful about the value of recreating the mall experience in XR. Accidental discovery by browsing can be a delight and sellers love to stake out space where there is foot traffic, though. Time will tell, I suppose.
